Dantata Foods, Miyetti-Allah Move to Tackle Animal Feeds Shortages

In a bid to address animal feed shortages in Nigeria, Dantata Foods and Allied Products Limited has entered into a collaboration with the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Kano Chapter, to provide affordable livestock feed for herders across the country.

The partnership will introduce a new feed product known as “Naruga”, designed to meet the nutritional needs of livestock at an affordable cost. The agreement was reached during a partnership meeting between the association and the company, aimed at fostering economic prosperity, reducing farmer–herder conflicts, and promoting lasting peace.

Speaking at the meeting, Alhaji Tajuddeen Aminu Dantata, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dantata Foods and Allied Products Limited, said the company had developed a feed formula tailored to the financial realities of herders to ensure the steady availability of animal feed nationwide.

“Nigeria’s livestock industry is massive, yet it remains largely underutilized. Grazing reserves have been encroached upon by both government and private individuals, leaving herders vulnerable,” Dantata said.

He also called for a more supportive policy environment to safeguard the remaining grazing reserves and adequately cater to the needs of nomadic herders across the country.

Also speaking at the meeting, Malam Zubairu Ibrahim, Secretary of the Miyetti Allah Kano State Chapter and Chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) in the state, expressed concern over the increasing allegations linking Fulani herdsmen to banditry in Northern Nigeria.

Zubairu urged stakeholders to support ongoing reforms in the livestock sector, emphasizing that improving productivity would enable herders to derive better value from their animals and meet domestic demand for meat and dairy products more effectively.

The partnership is expected to play a key role in strengthening Nigeria’s livestock value chain while contributing to food security and social stability.
